“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2 NLT

As the world comes to a decisive and evidently divisive conclusion to an aggressive election season, we must keep in mind that no matter who wins the seat of the presidency our character, our conduct, our efforts, and our purpose cannot change. We have one God and one mediator between God and men; Christ Jesus.

So, in preparation for tomorrows’ results, we must set our hearts at the feet of God for this titan of a nation and that the ensuing results will not demolish the fabric of the United States constitution or its democratic endeavor. 

Let Us Pray

Let us pray for peace at the polls, that those who set off in the midst of a pandemic to vote, that their ballot and votes are made in peace, tranquility, with sound mindedness and without the presence of intimidating factions. 

Let us pray that ballots sent via the mail will reach their appropriate destination without interference by wanton individuals and entities or cases of natural disasters or delays. Every vote counts in a democracy and we must ask that softens the hearts of people who want to disrupt this process, thus leading them to not temper or intercept any ballots.

Let us pray for an accurate vote count, a healthy and representative electoral college, and for media outlets to accurately portray numbers and percentages, independent of whoever is in the lead. We hope for unbiased reporting and information dissemination. 

Should Joe Biden and Kamala Harris Win

Let us pray for civility, progress, and healthy dialogue. We pray that the current president, Donald J. Trump peacefully steps away from the post and position of the executive leader without condescension and malice. We hope for a peaceful transition of power. We pray for the stability of a democratic transition of control and power. 

Let us pray that name-calling, character vilification, calls for jail time, and so be silenced. We pray for a country where we can live without extremes. A nation where we can live in and speak freely, but also decently. 

Let us pray, that should Biden-Harris lead the nation for the next four years, that there may be an economic turn around from top to bottom, for the preservation of life, for the release of children at the Mexico-US border, hopefully into refugee programs, foster programs, and hopefully and expediently into adoption programs should their parents not be found. 

Let us pray for the continual effort of religious liberty, the preservation of life, before, during, and after birth. Let us pray for a better health care system for American citizens, that they may champion the fight for universal healthcare or at least a health care system that any and every person can use without fear of debt. 

Let us pray for better relations with international bodies and governments, without capitulation or sacrifice of American lives. Let us pray for compromise without the loss of life. Life in America and abroad. 

Let us pray for conservative circles, Republicans, alt-right groups, and supremacists to shun any form of violence or intimidation tactics in light of this transference of power. We cannot resort to another American civil war. At the end of it, nothing will remain. We must pray for peace.

Let us pray, also, for our law enforcement and members of the military and federal agencies, that their safety, temperament, and training may help them navigate these delicate times. That their allegiance side with their country and not pockets of extremists or fanatics. That their safety on and off duty may be preserved for God has placed these entities on earth to serve us and maintain the peace. They have been instituted by God to punish evil and crime. 

Should Donald Trump and Michael Pence Win a Second Term

Let us pray, peace, and stability within the continental United States of America. 

We cannot emphasize how important it is to maintain a spirit of civility and morally commendable conduct. 

Let us pray for a smooth post-election season where president Donald Trump and vice-president Mike Pence, should they win again, faithfully administer their office duties without inciting violence or indulge in the loss of their opponents.

Let us pray for personal, familial, communal, societal, political, and national humility. Let us pray that we become a people who do not goad over our enemies or our opponents when they have fallen or lost. 

Let us pray for a leadership that will at every moment and instance condemn supremacist extremism and support. Let us pray for leadership that protects minorities and vulnerable communities. 

Let us pray for leaders who protect constitutional rights but do not allow for corporate entities to sway administrative and executive decisions to further their personal and financial agendas.

Let us pray for the United States of America that is not influenced or intimidated by foreign super-nations like Russia, China, and Iran, but one that condemns human rights violations and crimes and pushes for rectification wherever it is necessary.

Let us pray for the end of the expansionist and world-police mentality of old to crumble, the preservation of life in third world countries that are under constant bombardment by their own governments and also the United States. Let us pray for better rules of engagement with no collateral damage. We cannot afford to support a nation that is okay with collateral damage. Remember that a life is a life. We must not move the goal ethical goal post because the person whose life was sifted by a tomahawk missile just so happened to be born in the middle east. God cares for His children and loves them equally worldwise. We are all made in His image.

Let us pray for Donald Trump and his family, that their debts be paid, that their hurts be healed, their problems resolved, their emotions matured, their hardness of heart softened, their verbal attacks diminished if not completely done away with. Let us pray the president come to know the God of the Bible so that his heart be transformed into the heart of a humble and meek servant. 

Let us pray that the nation stands with the president, even if he is not the person they voted for. 

Let us pray for peaceful protests and civil public gatherings should they take place. Gatherings without the loss of life, without violence, without mutinous efforts to disrupt the democratic process.

Let us pray that boisterous and violent groups who want nothing but riots and the destruction of cities, that these groups and their leaders turn from their destructive paths. Imprisonment and death are at the end of riots and destruction. Let us pray for peace.

Let us pray for national and international stability, peace, conduct, and civility no matter who wins tomorrow’s election.

Believers

We must understand that our allegiance is to Christ above and beyond any and all earthly governments, parties, groups, factions, and more. 

Our allegiance belongs to Christ.

Remember that however, tomorrow turns out, the world will be watching not just the American political theatre how you either celebrate and goad over opponents or how you malign and slander them. 

Please, refrain from goading. Refrain from expressing distasteful comments. Refrain from parodies, off the cuff comments, derision, mockery, cursing, laughing, and more. 

Behave the way Jesus would if he were to walk the streets of New York City, Los Angeles, Houston, Miami, Cincinnati, and more, post-election results.

Walkabout with the intent to restore, reconcile, heal, minister, up-lift, pray for, support financially and emotionally, to build and form relationships with your neighbors. 

Let us represent Christ.

All that we do, all that we ask, all that we pray, we do so, in Jesus’ name.
